Why PAIzo and not a different system ?
We have tried other systems but find that their rules can become either vague or clunky, and in some cases (like the advantage/disadvantage systems) too confrontational between the GM and players for our liking.
Will I win ?
In role playing games, traditionally everyone wins.
Its much more about the journey with your friends and the story you build, with the GM’s help along the way. Sure there are some dedicated win/lose adventures out there in the RPG world, and ‘measured’ play styles but those can be highly subjective and depend entirely on your GM’s mood at the time.
We prefer to always have options for the Hero’s to survive, though that bag of loot you just acquired may not be as big as you originally planned !
